Nwoba Chika Nwoba honors his mentor, Chief Clement Nweke, Ugomba 1 of Igbudu-Ikwo, on his 65th birthday. Here’s how his advice has shaped my life since 2015.
Nwoba Chika Nwoba wrote on his Facebook page about celebrating the 65th birthday of his mentor, Chief Clement Nweke, Ugomba 1 of Igbudu-Ikwo. Chief Nweke has been a key figure in Nwoba’s life since he brought him to Abakaliki from Anambra in 2015. “If you ask about my principal, this is the man!” Nwoba said, making it clear how important Chief Nweke is to him.
Chief Nweke has had a long and successful career. He was a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly from 2003, served as the Principal Secretary to the Governor, and was a Commissioner. Now, he is a member of the Christian Pilgrimage board, representing the South East.
On this special day, Nwoba visited Chief Nweke’s house to wish him a happy birthday. During the visit, Chief Nweke called Nwoba to sit with him and the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, who, like Nwoba, considers Chief Nweke a mentor.
Nwoba shared some important advice Chief Nweke gave him in 2016: “Chika, when you’re with me, don’t say you have rich men around who don’t help you. I don’t want to hear that. You’re a man, and instead of complaining, work harder and trust God for a surprise. The people you think have a lot may not have enough. Everyone has their own struggles. Use the time you would spend complaining to do something that will help you grow. When it’s your time, the help will come from people you don’t even know. Don’t complain about people letting you down when you’re with me. Men don’t complain.”
Nwoba took this advice to heart and stopped worrying about those who didn’t help him. Since then, he feels it has made a big difference in his life.
As Chief Nweke celebrates his 65th birthday, Nwoba invites everyone to join him in celebrating this amazing man who has had such a big impact on his life. “He’s the one in the Adidas jersey,” Nwoba noted, sharing a personal touch.
Happy 65th birthday, Chief Clement Nweke!

This is my principal! He brought me to Abakaliki from Anambra in 2015. If you ask about my principal, this is the man! Others come after him. He’s Chief Clement Nweke, Ugomba 1 of Igbudu-Ikwo. He was member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly from 2003. Principal Secretary to Governor. Former Commissioner and presently member of the board of the Christian Pilgrimage representing South East.
He’s celebrating his 65th birthday today and I had to be in his house to wish him a glorious birthday experience. In his compound, he called me up to stay with him and the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly who happens to be his political godson as myself.
One thing he told me in 2016 that helped me and indelible in my head was, “Chika, any time you’re with me, don’t say you have rich men around who don’t help you. I don’t want to hear that. You’re a man and instead of complaining, work harder and wait on God for a surprise. The people you think have enough might not have enough. Every man is facing a burden. Use the time for complaint for another thing that’ll help you grow. Whenever it’s your time, it’ll surprise you it’ll come from people you don’t even know. Don’t complain about people forsaking you when you are with me. Men don’t complain”. I took this in and immediately stopped reasoning about abandonment by the people I expect to help me. Ever since that time, I can say that it’s working for me.
So, join me in celebrating my principal, Chief Clement Nweke! He’s the one on Adidas Jersey.
