In the afternoon of today, Thursday, unknown armed men aided by police men invaded the national secretariat of the Labour Party in Abuja, breaking the fence and doors leading to many offices and conference hall of the party.

The national chairman of the party, Julius Abure while fielding questions from journalists described the attack as one of terrorism. He accused the APC as being the hand behind the attack, urging security agents to probe into the invasion and call APC elements to order whom he described as agents of destruction. He accused the party of sponsoring dissidents unknown to the party to cause terror and present the party as one whose house is divided.

A few minutes ago, a faction of the Labour Party suspected to be those behind the invasion of the national office of the party announced the sack of the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure and other members of the National Working Committee over an accusation of anti party and disobedience to party’s laws. The embattled national chairman when asked the state of thing within the leadership of the party dismissed the announcement, describing it as a non issue. He advised “enemies of the party to steer clear as the party is determined to reclaim its stolen mandate in the just concluded presidential election.

Information on the desk of Iyierioba.com confirmed that the attackers chased away party members and workers who were present, and then gained access into the offices. Recall that the same scenario was reported of the party in Imo State where some unknown persons invaded the secretariat of the party and displaced workers, taking possession of activities and offices of the party. Labour Party has accused the governor of the state, Hope Uzodimma as sponsoring the attacks and vowed to retire him in the upcoming governorship election in the state.

The Labour Party warned that should anything happen to its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, APC and security agents whom he accused of bias should be held responsible as according to him, APC was hellbent in attacking the party as the party refused to cave in to the threats of the APC since it went to court challenging the outcome of the Presidential election which the party claims it won in a landslide.
