In Nigeria, it’s not an easy job to criticise a government in power moreover at the state level. It’s less harmful at the federal level.
To stay safe most of the time, you have got to be doing the following:
1. Always have evidence to the allegations you are laying. Should you be taken to court, you can provide evidence, and if the court grants you bail or sets you free, the government forces will always retreat anytime you come up with an allegation knowing full well that you might be armed with proofs even though you may not have one at the particular time and on the issue.
2. Be very consistent in criticising. Consistency weakens them. It’ll make you to be at on the focus of the public. When you overwhelm them with regular, but meaningful updates, they’ll get tired of you and decide to keep quiet over whatever it is that you are saying.
3. Be mindful of the things you do in the secret to avoid blackmail. Once your character is blackmailed and it happens that you are guilty as charged, your criticisms will begin to lack credibility. Readers or listeners will begin to see you as a kettle calling pot black. Attention will shift from your side. There’ll be question mark on your personality and once that happens, you have become a forgotten case. So, be wary of any deal that could expose and make you vulnerable to blackmail.
4. Stay away from women. You could be set up with a woman. If you must mingle with women, do that with those that are outside your jurisdiction or the area of focus of your prospective hounders. Women can be used as an element of setup and then, blackmail.
5. Don’t live in the jurisdiction of the people you criticise. Living within the place might expose you to danger. It’s advised that you migrate to a distant location where it’ll be difficult to track and pick you up at an easy attempt.
6. Be wary of public appearances moreover liquor joints. You could be picked up or poisoned. They’ll come for you with the things that they have known attract your fancy. Some friends can do anything once they are paid. Reduce how you appear in public.
There are other precautionary measures, but we shall be discussing them in subsequent updates.
