WAEC May/June Mathematics Questions and Answers 2025/2026 EXPO: WAEC has released materials to help you get ready for the Mathematics exam on May 30, 2025 The WAEC Maths OBJ and ESSAY Questions and Answers will be on Thursday, May 30, 2025. The exam will be from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon (2 hours and 30 minutes) and from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm (1 hour and 30 minutes).

This is for the General Mathematics exam, which includes Mathematics (Core) 1 (Objective) and Mathematics (Core) 2 (Essay). These materials will help you know what to expect and how to do your best in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

GENERAL 2025/2026 MATHEMATICS/MATHEMATICS (CORE) SYLLABUS 

The 2024 WAEC Syllabus for Mathematics is available below. Please note that this syllabus applies to both internal and external candidates.

AIMS OF THE SYLLABUS

The aims of this syllabus are to assess candidates’ abilities in:
  1. Mathematical Competency: Demonstrate mathematical skills and computational proficiency.
  2. Conceptual Understanding: Apply mathematical concepts to real-world problems and entrepreneurial skills.
  3. Problem-Solving: Translate problems into mathematical language and solve them using appropriate methods.
  4. Accuracy: Achieve accuracy relevant to the problem at hand.
  5. Critical Thinking: Think logically, abstractly, and precisely.
NOTE: This syllabus is not intended for teaching purposes. Teachers should use their national teaching syllabuses or curricula for that purpose.
EXAMINATION SCHEME
The examination consists of two papers:
PAPER 1
  • 50 multiple-choice objective questions
  • 1½ hours duration
  • 50 marks
PAPER 2
  • 13 essay questions in two sections (A and B)
  • 2½ hours duration
  • 100 marks
SECTION A
  • 5 compulsory questions, elementary in nature
  • 40 marks
SECTION B
  • 8 questions of greater length and difficulty
  • 2 questions may be from unfamiliar topics
  • Candidates must answer 5 questions
  • 60 marks
