Irrespective of the ranking of Ebonyi State as the poorest state in the South East of Nigeria by a statistical commission, it’s not in doubt that the state still has known and silent billionaires whose wealth came from the private sector of economy. This list might not have captured all of such billionaires from Ebonyi, but it’s subject to review and criticism.
1. High Chief Ifeanyi Odii:
The 47 year old businessman man is presumed richest man in Ebonyi State due to the array of businesses traced to him. He’s the only Ebonyi man known to own a private jet and two of it at that.
He drives all manner of ranking vehicles, helping people to grow and empowering rural people of the state to live under good condition. He has built 137 houses for people in need of shelter. These houses are luxurious and not just houses. He has given assorted number of vehicles to people of the state and outside the state. He was recently captured in a video where the socialite Obi Cubana and Cubana Chiefpriest and others referred to him as their principal when it comes to money, investments and connection. This evidences how rich and helpful he is. He has constructed many asphalt roads in his Isu community in Onicha LGA of the state of Ebonyi. He’s into real estate, chemicals, luxury and entertainment businesses in a very massive way across Africa and Europe. He has multiple chieftaincy titles conferred on him most popular of them which is “Odozi Obodo 1 of Ekpelu, Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State.
2. High Chief Julius Amah Oji: This young man is one of the billionaires Ebonyi has produced. He’s believed to have become a billionaire quite a long time ago owing to his long history of philanthropy and array of businesses which centre more on leisure. He owns one of the top A hotels in Lagos, Nigeria.
He’s an ally of many celebrities and socialites. He’s married with children and comes from Edda LGA of the state.
3. Chief Sir Edward Okereke Nkwoagu: This is one of the long time billionaires Ebonyi has produced since 1999. In his late 50s, EDON as he’s fondly called, a name derived from his business brands has been a producer of rich men through his litany of known businesses in Nigeria and abroad. He’s the owner of Barcelona Hotel located at the Blantyre Street, Abuja which is rated the 4th best hotel in the capital of city of Nigeria.He’s into real estate, hospitality, production of aluminum sheets. He has a hotel in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu and some other places. He’s from Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State and an architect of international repute.
4. Chief Christian Asaga Nwali:
This is another confirmed billionaire from Ebonyi State. He’s an architect of international standard who has handled a lot huge contracts both in Nigeria and abroad. He became a billionaire since 2012 in his mid 30s. He’s currently 40 years old.
He owns dozens of businesses which ranges from real estate, hospitality, production economy and many more. He’s the owner of Cirenes Hotels in Abakaliki, Enugu, Lagos, Abuja and elsewhere. His hotel, Exclusive Serene Hotel at the Wuye area of Abuja is one of the top A hotels in the capital city. He holds multiple chieftaincy titles and a Master degree in architecture. 5. Chief Chibuike Orogwu:
Baby Oku as he’s called is among the billionaires from Ebonyi State with verifiable businesses. He’s the CEO of the Chubby Zion Group of Companies which focuses more on liquor production with factories in Ogun State and affiliate in Enugu. He has over five alcoholic brands selling well in the markets of Nigeria, Liberia, Ghana, South Africa and other countries of the world.
In his 40s, Baby Oku has assisted a handful of persons in his clan of Ezza, donating electric transformers to his community of Amudo in Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State. He’s happily married and bears a chieftaincy title of Odumba 1 of Igboland.
6. Chief Daniel Onwe:
Not much is known about this billionaire Amagu Ikwo LGA business mogul, but described as one of the billionaire business men in Onitsha. He’s the producer of the iron brand called DNO. He’s a philanthropy who has produced many millionaires in business. He’s believed to own other businesses across Nigeria and abroad.
7. Chief Monday Oke:
The Emebeifego of Onitsha is another billionaire from Ebonyi State. In his 40s, he has established an array of businesses both in Nigeria and abroad known to us of which include nylon production, hospitality, real estate, motor spare parts and so on. He own the second best hotel in Abakaliki and a massive abode in Onitsha, Anambra State. He is from the Ezza clan of the state and particularly Ezza Umuhuali, Ishielu LGA of the state. He has produced many millionaires and done a lot for his clan in many ways and at different times.
8. Chief Ndubuisi Nwokwu:
Ndumore as his businesses bear is a billionaire oil merchant. He owns many petrol filling stations in Nigeria and other investments in real estate, general goods and services, etc. He has two filling stations in Onitsha, Anambra State. He has assisted a handful of people including the writer of this article. He’s from Amagu community of Ezza South LGA.
9. Chief Osi Kama:
This young billionaire has a chain of businesses which rains money into his treasury ceaselessly. Not much is known about his economic life, but seen to always be in the midst of billionaire socialites in Nigeria. He has assisted many underprivileged people in Ebonyi state and beyond and rendered community services in a bid to change the lives and fortunes of his people. He’s Ishiagu, Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State and in his late 40s.
10. Pastor Malachi Chimaobi Igwe:
This young, single man who’s in his mid 30s is from Aka-Awoke community of Ikwo LGA. He owns and runs the Christ’s Mandate Church, Dares Salam, capital of Tanzania and other parts of Africa. His fortune changed when he became friend of the immediate past, but late president Magufuli of Tanzania.
His church is one of the largest churches in the Tanzania with many branches. He is a well respected man of God in Tanzania. He has an array of investments which shot him to the top as one of the silent billionaires in Ebonyi State. He built the best house in his community of origin in Ikwo LGA of the state. He’s yet to pick a wife for himself. In Tanzania, he’s popularly addressed as Jesus Servant due to his meekness and altruistic mission of the propagation of the gospel of light and godliness in the land of Tanzania and neighbouring African countries. He encountered a man of God in Lagos when he was hawking wares on the streets of Lagos who tutored him after realizing his wealth of ministry then yet to be harnessed for the salvation of mankind. He later sent him to Tanzania where he established own church, like wildfire, making waves in the salvation industry.
