WAEC Welding Syllabus 2026/2027 and Recommended Textbooks – This article explains the WAEC Welding syllabus in simple words to help students, teachers, and parents understand what to study and how the exam will be done.
WAEC Welding Examination Format
The WAEC Welding examination is made up of three papers. Every candidate must take Paper 1, Paper 2, and Paper 3.
Paper 1
This paper contains 40 multiple-choice questions. Candidates are expected to answer all questions within 1 hour. The total score for this paper is 40 marks.
Paper 2
Paper 2 is a theory paper. It contains five questions, but candidates are required to answer any four questions only. The time allowed is 1 hour and 30 minutes, and it carries 60 marks.
Paper 3
Paper 3 is the practical welding test. It lasts for 3 hours and 10 minutes and carries 100 marks. Candidates will be tested on their practical welding and fabrication skills.
Important Notes:
Papers 1 and 2 are written together in one sitting.
WAEC will provide schools with a list of materials for the practical examination at least two weeks before the exam to allow proper preparation

WAEC Welding Practical Project example
Students may be asked to produce items such as:
Name plate
Charcoal stove
Kitchen stool
Metal scoop
Funnel
Hinges
Metal rake
These projects test cutting, welding, bending, and finishing skills.
