Police Arrest Kidnappers, Rescue Victim In Anambra

After minutes of gun duel at the camp of the kidnappers at Aguata, the police operatives were able to capture them alive and rescue the victim unhurt.

In a statement, police spokesman in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the capture of the criminals whom he said were IPOB members. Below reads the news in details:

SECURITY OPERATIVES ARREST THREE GUNMEN/KIDNAPPERS, RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM

Three members of a criminal gang of kidnappers have been arrested by a joint security operatives in Aguata Council Area of Anambra State.

They were arrested on 27/04/2023, at about 2030.

The arrested hoodlums are: Chinonso Offor, a native of Enugu State, resident in Ekwulọbịa, Hycent Ugwuike, native of Nsukka, resident in Onitsha and Samuel Sunday from Akwa-Ibom but resident in Isuochi, Abịa State.

After hot gun exchanges with the security operatives, the security operatives also rescued their kidnap victim, who was kidnapped at Neni by Okacha Junction.

Two AK-47 with live ammunition, fake police and army uniforms, two Cell phones, two Bulletproof vest, two Walkie-talkie, one black Prado Jeep with registration number: GWA – 696 CM ABUJA, one Ash Lexus 350 with registration number: EKY – 605GV LAGOS and others.

Confirming the incident to the Press, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikéngà said that the hoodlums confessed to the Anambra State Police operatives as being members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The hoodlums are still in police custody, undergoing further investigations.
