Open Letter to Governor of Ebonyi State on Injustice in Afikpo North West – Otuzor Jr. Amadi
Plea for Justice and Equity in Afikpo North West Constituency

An open letter addressed to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, by a concerned citizen named Otuzor Jr. Amadi. The letter highlights the issues of injustice, inequality, and political imbalance that are prevalent in Afikpo North West Constituency, particularly with regards to the underrepresentation of Amasiri and Akpoha communities in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

Otuzor Jr. Amadi expresses his concerns that one community, Ibii/Ozizza, has held the state house of assembly seat for over 12 years, while the other communities have been excluded from the political representation. He argues that this situation is unfair and may lead to agitation and crises in the area if not addressed promptly.

Otuzor Jr. Amadi urges the governor to intervene in the situation and ensure justice, equity, fairness, and peace prevail in Afikpo North West Constituency. The letter ends with a plea for the governor to take necessary actions to correct the wrong and promote good governance in the state.

A PLEA FOR JUSTICE,EQUITY, FAIRNESS AND PEACE.

AN OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR DAVID UMAHI MARCH 27,2023 10:56PM

BY OTUZOR Jr. AMADI

His Excellency,

Patriotism beckons on me, His Excellency, to take hold of my pen in this attempt, to inundate you on the veracity of affairs in the state, on the seemingly imminent state of quagmire that threatens the polity, which if due approach is not deployed would plummet governance of Ebonyi State to a worse point of no recovery. I undertake this feet as an obligation, devoid of any political motivation nor affiliation, as a patriotic statesman to bring to your oblivion these challenges before you bid the office of the Governor farewell.

In my dispositions, I would appreciate the fact that truth is one of the scarce commodity of the ride to power in this part of the world, but the best memories you’ll ever keep is of those who stood the firm grounds of truth while all tides where against them. It’s a lifelong lesson and here I bring it on a platter, spiced for your senses to feed. A leader in the true sense of the world, they say, is not one who fulfilled all his ambitions and fought off all his enemies, but one who has set a conducive grounds built on Justice, equity, fairness and peace for others to emulate.

In this regards Mr Governor, I’m afraid to say that this is not farfetched from the terrain you have chosen, unless you rise swiftly to the occasion and act decisively to avert the impending political imbalance in our beloved state or L.G.A Without much ado Mr Governor, I will want to zero in on Afikpo North L.G.A, emphasises on Afikpo North West Constituency.

What are the issues? As you are already aware, Mr Governor, there are three communities which makes up the Afikpo North West Constituency namely; Amasiri, Akpoha and Ibii/Ozizza. However, in defilement of equitable representation of these communities in rotation, the she seat of the Ebonyi state house of assembly has been in Ibii/Ozizza for over 12years now represented by Hon. Kingsley Ogbonnia Ikoro. And yet he is still vying for a fourth tenor, neglecting the other communities(Amasiri and Akpoha). It is quite imperative to bring this to your notice to wit that where three people are to share something and one continuously to takes the whole share while others spectate, agitation and crises is bound to erupt.

For years, Amasiri and Akpoha have been expelled to redundancy and treated with disdain politically. Should I remind you, that Amasiri most especially has been a bedrock to the revenue of the state, seeing to generation of millions of naira from the quarry companies that build up the government’s revenue. Why should they be treated so unfairly? Mr Governor, you can believe with me that Ibii/Ozizza is part of Ehugbo(Afikpo east) despite the fact they were been joined into the Afikpo west Constituency. Mr Governor, Currently in the Afikpo east constituency they have the following political positions both elected and non-elected;

1. Local government Chairman

2. UBEB Chairman

3. Commissioners (more than one)

4. SA’s

5. Board members

6. L.G Education Secretary

7. State House of Assembly

8. Federal House of Representatives. E.t.c

His Excellency, I urge you to intervene over the injustice that has blased the system.

I will want to leave it at this, while praying and hoping that God Almighty, who has chosen you to lead Ebonyi State at this point in our history, will grant you knowledge and everything you require to put up all necessary actions to right the wrong so as to promote justice, equity, fairness and peace in Afikpo north west Constituency.

Your’s faithfully,

OTUZOR Jr. AMADI
