“Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State has approached members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly to approve for him a fresh loan of N33 billion to help him complete his projects before leaving office on 29th May, 2023. This is in addition to the N71 billion hanging on the neck of the state already. He promised to give them N10 million as gift for a job well done.
The House of Assembly members refused granting him the request. He has resorted to reaching them one after another on the phone, but he’s having issues accessing a simple majority of the members of the House to facilitate the approval. The members asked him why he should be seeking a loan a month to the expiration of his administration to the tune of N33 billion. Only three out of the 24 members seem to agree with him. Umahi has threatened to deal with them all that have refused to approve the loan.
I investigated and realised that Gov. Umahi is the owner of the Everyday Supermarket inside the International Shopping Centre in Abakaliki built with the Ebonyi people’s money by collusion. He colluded with the company using their name as surrogate. Umahi leased it to himself for a period of 99 years. Umahi also acquired the Amusement Park in Abakaliki. He also acquired the IPAC building (old Revenue) house facing the Abakaliki Township Stadium all through surrogates. He has sold off all the Parks in Abakaliki and lands owned by government. He has begun to make fresh appointments into boards, commissions and governmental agencies with the appointees having a statutory five year period of service in them.
Indeed, Umahi has laid landmines against the incoming administration. He has dealt with Ebonyi State. I shall be listing the properties he acquired as Governor in Portharcourt, Abakaliki, Uburu, Enugu, UK, Dubai, South Africa, Lagos, etc. This is wickedness taken too far. He’s also planning to auction public vehicles and furniture before leaving office.”
NCN. Gov. Umahi.
