National Examination Council (NECO) wishes to invite the general public and all interested candidates to register for the 2025 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Registration is now open.
The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced that the registration for the 2025 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) is now open. All Secondary School Principals and Commandants are advised to begin the registration process immediately.
Eligibility for Registration
Only final-year Senior Secondary School (SS3) students are eligible for the 2025 NECO June/July SSCE. This exam is strictly for school-based candidates in Nigeria and overseas. Private candidates are not allowed. Schools and State Ministries of Education must ensure compliance with this rule.
Registration Procedure
NECO has introduced a new registration method, which combines both offline and online processes. There is no manual registration. Schools must first complete offline registration before proceeding to the NECO portal (www.neco.gov.ng) for payment and online submission.
Offline Registration Steps
- Install the Offline Registration App: Schools should uninstall any previous versions and install the 2025 SSCE offline registration application.
- Enter Candidate Details: Input candidates’ bio-data and biometric details using the offline application provided on the official NECO CD/DVD or downloaded from www.neco.gov.ng.
- Print User Manual: Schools should print the user manual and follow the steps carefully.
- Validate Entries: Schools must verify candidate details offline before proceeding to payment and online submission.
Validation Process
- Print photocards for each candidate.
- Candidates must confirm and sign their details.
- Schools must correct any errors before uploading the data online.
- Schools that fail to validate registrations before submission will be fined ₦10,000 per candidate.
Center Activation
Before payment and uploading candidate data, schools must submit the following documents to their nec State Office:
- Validation List (signed by candidates)
- Candidates’ signed photocards
- Entry Schedule (approved by the State Ministry of Education)
- Subject Analysis
Center activation begins on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Payment and Online Upload
Once a center is activated, schools should log in to www.neco.gov.ng using their center number, username, and password to make payments. After successful payment, schools can:
- Select candidates for registration
- Upload their data
- Obtain registration numbers
Payment Guidelines
- Payments must be made through the NECO portal.
- Schools must pay for at least 20 candidates per transaction to avoid extra charges.
- After payment, an invoice will be emailed to the school administrator.
- Schools must print and submit the payment invoice to the NECO State Office.
- The final photocard, containing the registration number, will be used for examination hall admission and biometric verification.
NECO 2025 June/July SSCE Internal Registration Guide
Minimum Number of Candidates for Registration
- Minimum: 20 candidates per school.
- Schools registering fewer than 20 candidates are considered unviable and must pay a Unviable Centre Fee of ₦40,000 to write the examination at their school.
i. Entry Schedules and Customized CD
- School Principals/Commandants: Collect Entry Schedules, Subjects’ Analysis form, and Customized CD-ROM for their SS3 candidates at NECO offices in their states.
- Important: The CD is valid for one year and non-transferable.
ii. Installation of the Software and Registration
- Step 1: Install the customized registration software on an internet-enabled laptop or desktop.
- Step 2: Start the registration process and capture the biometric details of all candidates for SSCE registration.
iii. Registration, Bio-Data Capture, and Submission
- NECO 2025 Registration: Online registration for the June/July SSCE Internal Examination is now open.
- Schools must create an online account, log in, and purchase tokens for their candidates (note: scratch cards are no longer in use).
- Minimum of 20 candidates required for valid registration.
Registration Process on the SSCE Internal Portal
The SSCE Internal Offline and Online Application suite allows schools to:
- Register candidates
- Make payments (online)
- Manage candidate data
- Upload CA3 (Continuous Assessment) records
Procedure to Upload Candidate Data Online
- Step 1: Connect your computer to the internet.
- Step 2: Launch the offline application and click on the “Payment and Upload” button.
- Step 3: Click on “Check Payment” and log in with your administrator credentials.
- Step 4: Upload candidate data accordingly.
Updating Centre Information for SSCE Internal
- Visit: internalexams.neco.gov.ng/updatecentre
- Enter your Centre Number/Code and select your exam type.
- Click Display Centre Info to view and edit your centre information.
- Enter Centre Admin Information to update details.
- Verify your email to set a new password for your account.
- Sign in with your Centre Number/Code and new password.
Uploading Continuous Assessment (CA3)
- Schools are required to upload third-year CA scores (CA3) for their candidates.
- CA3 Entry Period: June 16 – July 25, 2025.
- Late Submission Fee: ₦40,000 if CA3 is uploaded after the deadline.
Steps to Upload CA3:
- Connect to the internet and launch the offline application.
- Click on the Third Year CA menu.
- Select candidates and make entries for CA3.
- Log in with your admin credentials to upload CA3 data.
Registration Fees
- Registration Fee: ₦22,250 per candidate.
- Photo Album: ₦2,700 (per pair).
- Four-Figure Mathematical Tables: ₦500 per copy.
- Waterproof Certificate Jacket: ₦2,500 per candidate.
- Syllabus: ₦2,000 per copy.
- Unviable Centre Fee: ₦70,000.
- Late Registration Fee: Additional ₦5,000 per candidate.
- Other Charges: Stamp duty, service charges, and Remita charges apply.
Important Note: Registration fees are non-refundable once paid.
Photo Albums
- Electronic Photo Albums: No manual preparation required. The council will print and endorse photo albums for candidates.
- Cost: ₦2,700 per pair, each album containing 171 candidates.
- Each album has 19 pages, with space for 9 candidates per page.
New Syllabus and Four-Figure Tables
- New Syllabus: ₦2,000 per copy (each school is advised to purchase at least four copies).
- NECO 4-Figure Tables: ₦500 per copy (each candidate must obtain a copy).
Registration Period and Closing Dates
- Start Date: November 11, 2024
- End Date (Normal Registration): June 2, 2025
- Late Registration Period: June 3 – 10, 2025
- Final Date for Submission: June 10, 2025 (Printed RRR Payment Receipt and Endorsed Final Validation List).
- CA3 Upload Deadline: July 25, 2025

- Candidates are only registered after data is uploaded online.
- Ensure registration errors are corrected before uploading online.
- Late Registration Penalty applies after June 10, 2025.
- Photocards must be prepared for candidate identification during exams.
- Schools must print Certificates of Upload for CA3 from their email.
