Revealed: Aisha &Odogwu Into Pranks

The next trouble we might have in our society soon might be caused by social media content creators — the skit and prank makers. Most of them have run out of creativity, and have now resorted to using their fledgling marriages as contents. More disturbing is the fact that majority of the readers and viewers of the skewed contents are not able to separate reality from fiction as they immediately go emotional, sympathic and judgemental.

An immediate case in point is the issue of Aisha & Odogwu’s marital controversy. The two of them are content creators. They recently got married to each other. After taking an in-depth study of the visuals emanating therefrom overtime, I am now convinced that the controversy is theatrical. It’s a piece of prank professionally scripted, acted and now being abused.

Let me use their last video to illustrate why it’s a piece of prank all the while: in the video, the elders of the both families came to a compound to proffer a lasting solution to the fictive “misunderstanding”. Aisha is from Umunze, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State. The elders summoned as her family members were speaking absolutely in Omambala tongue of Anambra State instead of the Orumba and Umunze’s tongue in particular which I know too well. Omambala is a zone in Anambra State and is comprised of Oyi, Ayamelum, Anambra East and West LGAs. They have a particular dialect in Anambra that is strikingly different from that of Orumba. I have known Anambra so much such that I know their dialectal differences. Why should all the men claiming to be family members of Aisha from Umunze be speaking Omambala if it’s not a theatre session?

In that same video, one of the elders mistakenly called Aisha Ngozi. Her real name is Ijeoma. The compound they were gathered is a popular Nollywood environment. The environment has appeared in different films. Again, elders coming together to settle marriage misunderstanding couldn’t have done that in a very haphazard setting and on camera. They knew they were being videoed. Again, such settlement doesn’t entertain presence of boys. The number of people around is always few. In the case of Aisha and Odogwu, the number was at least 25. You don’t gather a community to settle a marriage dispute. The discussions followed a linear approach, meaning there was a foreshadowing, a practice before the actions. I also noticed that Odogwu was directly monitoring the storyline through eye askance. He was hostile throughout the sessions.

So, people on the social media should be wary of how they take to head the contents coming from creators pursuing monetization cash flow. They can do anything to get bumper harvest from Facebook at the end of the month. This is moreover with the ones that are into pranking. But one thing is certain in the case of Aisha and Odogwu: soon, they’ll understand that they have been getting it wrong all the while when greater number of their followers will be fed up with them, and I think they’re fast becoming obscure in the mental optics of many. Soon, they’ll go out of fashion like Akwa Okuko the native doctor!
