The Ebonyi State College of Education is at Achara, Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State. It was established in 2001 from formerly being a College of Agriculture owned by the Norwegian Church of Agriculture Project (Norcap) of the Presbyterian Church.
The College of Education was established by the first executive governor of Ebonyi State, Sen. Dr. Sam Egwu to cushion the effects of illiteracy that were characteristic of the majority of the people of the state at the time.
