Concerns Over Distribution of Ebonyi State 1.3 Billion Naira Youth Fund

According to a Facebook user, Ifeanyichukwu Olodo, who wrote on his Facebook timeline, Governor Francis Nwifuru previously announced an initiative to empower hawkers in Ebonyi State with 2 million Naira each. However, no hawker or disadvantaged individual from Ebonyi has reported receiving these funds, and the allocated money seems to have vanished. The governor has remained silent on this issue.

Now, Governor Nwifuru has announced another plan to empower 1,300 Ebonyi youths with 1 million Naira each, totaling over 1.3 billion Naira. This raises the question: Why is the governor not implementing this empowerment program through the Ministry of Human Capital Development to ensure that the money reaches the rightful recipients? Instead, he is setting up a political committee, which raises concerns that the funds may be used to settle political allies.

While I appreciate the efforts of the Ebonyi State government in certain areas, such as human capital development, merely distributing money will not yield positive outcomes. These funds are likely to end up in the wrong hands and may not serve their intended purpose.

Governor Francis Nwifuru should consider investing the 1.3 billion Naira empowerment fund into the health sector. Most hospitals in Ebonyi State lack the basic modern facilities necessary for quality healthcare. Investing such substantial resources in equipping hospitals would benefit the general public more than distributing the money to certain politicians who may not even be in need as they claim.

Another Facebook user Nnemeka Ajana wrote;

I’m using this opportunity to announce to the world that i am highly qualified to be among these 1300 Ebonyi youths set to be empowered by our governor with 1 million naira each. I’m qualified in all ramifications.

I wish to appeal to these 9 committee members to include my name on that list, please!

If given to me, i will use the one million naria and go do small thing on the head of my incoming wife. The committee members should have mercy on me. Any member of the committee should recommend me. I have a good relationship with almost every member of this committee except the deputy governor who did not know me nor come in contact with me before now.

I want to ask the speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly who is also a secretary of the 9-man selection committee, a question.

Mr. Speaker sir, Don’t you want me (your brother) to marry?

Last time billions of naira was approved for Ebonyi children hawking in different parts of the country. Despite the fact that I live and hawk in the street of Abuja for 8 good years now. I was not selected. I did not cry. This time around if this one million naira doesn’t hit my account like a thunderstorm, i will cry out blood. It’s going to pain me down to my bone marrow.

If at the end of distribution of this one million naira each to 1300 Ebonyi youths and i am not selected. It means the process of selection was marred with irregularities, corruption, favoritism and excessive deceitfulness.

Where is the Justice now?

Help me tag and share this post until i get justice from these 9-man committee members.

#Justice for Nnaemeka Ajana.
