The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State and business mogul, Chief Ifeanyi Odii has consoled with the family and people of Onicha Igboeze over the death of the traditional ruler of the state, Dr Agom Eze. Odii communicated this through a post on his verified Facebook page. The message reads:
“TRIBUTE TO LATE HRH EZEOGO ELDER DR. AGOM EZE, MON, OON”
It is with heavy heart that I received the news of HRH Ezeogo Elder Dr. Agom Eze MON, OON, the Igboezekuna I of Igboeze Onicha who has joined his revered ancestors at the age of 92 years.
Ezeogo Agom Eze was a trailblazer, an outstanding scholar, cultural ambassador, a prominent member of the founding fathers of Ebonyi State and an elder statesman who lived a life of service for his people.
Late Ezeogo Agom Eze distinguished himself in public service cutting across old Imo, Abia and Ebonyi states.
In Imo State, he served at different times as the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Lands, and Housing; Education and Information; and for Industries, Trade, and Cooperative. In Abia State he was the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, and on the realization of the Ebonyi dream he became the pioneer Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council.
As an outstanding academic, Late Ezeogo Agom Eze thought Economics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, he was the first to earn a PhD in present day Ebonyi State and have served at the different Councils of higher institutions in Nigeria including Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki where he served as the Pro-Chancellor.
The immense contributions of late Ezeogo Agom Eze was also felt in the private sector where he played key roles in various financial institutions where he sat on various boards.
The demise of this great Icon is indeed a loss to us as Ndi Ohaozara, Ndi Ebonyi State and indeed Nigeria at large.
We are consoled, however, as late Ezeogo Agom Eze left a shining legacy for generations to come.
