From the intelligence gathered by Iyierioba.com, the deputy governorship candidate of the APC in Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Obila has been under intense pressure to resign her elected office as Deputy Governor elect on the platform of the APC in Ebonyi State for the immediate younger brother of Gov. David Umahi, Chief Austin Umahi. The rumour had been in place before the elections, but now, it’s becoming more obvious that indeed, there’s pressure on the woman to dump the office.
At the earlier stage, she reportedly signed a document purporting her resignation, but since after the polls, the Gov. Umahi’s family has been expressing concerns that she might renege, thereby rendering the document ineffective after she must have been sworn into office. Some three days ago, we learnt that she was summoned to one of the Osborne Hotels owned by the governor to further the process of concretizing her resignation ahead of 29th May, 2023 it’s expected that the governor elect as declared by the INEC be inaugurated.
From our intelligence, the deputy governor elect pronounced her resignation on camera, saying that she was doing so on a health ground. In the video, she is seen saying that she wants to take care of her failing health condition as her health is more treasured than the office. But this didn’t come without mouthwatering offers. Our intelligence revealed to us that the sum of N500million would be paid into her Zenith Bank account within this week, plots of land, two SUV jeeps and a sponsored trip abroad will all follow as resignation goodies.
The resignation would be announced two weeks ahead of 29th May, 2023 so as to have the time to perfect nomination of a new deputy governor elect since an electoral victory belongs to political parties, not the individuals declared winning. So, it’s expected that two weeks to 29th May, the now INEC- declared deputy governor elect, Princess Obila from Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi State would be seen resigning for a purported health reason.
We’re yet to communicate with the governor elect, Francis Nwifuru to ascertain his concerns as the proposed Austin Umahi has been his arch political foe over the years, but we’re sure if that becomes a reality, the administration would be mired in fracas as the governor would not allow his deputy dictate for him, which is why the Umahis want one of their own to be second in command so as to continue governing the state at all costs.
We shall be following up the case and brief public.
