Music has been described as rhythmic flow of thoughts, emotions and messages aided by sounds and lyrics. Southeast of Nigeria is very rich in all the music genres including gospel music. Here, we shall be enumerating the ten best musicians from southeast that are still alive and performing music. The selection is based on all the genres of sounds, danceable and otherwise.
1. Gozie Okeke: He’s a gospel music artiste who has been on the music scene for about twenty years and counting. He’s rated as the best music artiste from southeast of Nigeria and this rating has been on and on for some time now. It’s not arguable that his songs move mountains and inspire players to awe and glory. Gozie is Nnobi in Anambra State. He divorced his wife, Njideka a few years ago over unclear irresolvable domestic and other differences. They have been separated for more than ten years now.
2. Ayaka Ozubulu: Regarded as the Oliver Decoque and Osadebe of the blessed memories put together. Ayaka has been on the stage of highlife music over the years without a controversy with counterparts, a quality that is very scarce among musicians in Nigeria. He has delivered over fifthty tracks of high life songs ever since he started singing and producing songs. He’s from Ozubulu in Anambra State.
3. Chinedu Okoli: Flavour as he’s popularly known and addressed is deemed as the best in dishing out Igbo cultural secular music tracks since his advent into music. His songs trend each time he releases them, making him the hottest cake in the comity of secular music artistes from southeast. He’s not stuck to one particular woman, but has baby mamas who produced his children for him. He’s from Umunze in Anambra State.
4. Ejike Nwamba: Ejyk Nwamba is an Enugu- based ogene maestro. He’s adjudged the best in terms of the metal gong kind of music. His charges are so high that his services are only accessed by a certain class of men and women in the southeast.
5. Chinyere Udoma: She’s from Anambra State. She’s almost the best in terms of gospel music in the category of women. She has been singing for more than fifteen years now and still doing. She majors in gospel music alone.
6. Michael Udegbunam: This high life music artiste has been making waves ever since he emerged with his hit song, “ibalu mmonwu”. His music is pro tradition and heathenism making it beloved of only those who have interest in culture and tradition. He’s from Olo community, Ezeagu local government area of Enugu State. His music is always produced by the Akpamma Studio in Awka.
7. De-lamb Onyebuchi: His songs when released always trend. His stage performances are also top notch as he has a near perfect team of players, logistics operators and backup singers. His songs are gospel music. He’s from Ikwo, Ebonyi State. He’s married and at peace with his spouse.
8. Anyidon: This very young high life and hip hop artiste is a beloved artiste of the young millionaires and billionaires of the southeast. His stage performances are excellent. He has released more than twenty tracks. He’s single and comes from Imo State. His closeness to Kayce, Obi Cubana and E-money shot him to prominence as his kind of music is such the modern day socialites enjoy. He’s in his mid thirties and doing well for himself.
9. Nigga Raw: Raw has though paused singing, but that doesn’t deny him being the number one secular music artiste from southeast since early two thousands. He remains a force on the music scene till today as he reeled out hit songs that have meaningful lyrics. He’s from Abia State.
10. Peter & Paul: Otherwise called Psquare, Peter and Paul as a team has made their marks in the music industry in Nigeria. They’ve enjoyed international recognition and fame over the years. A quality that they have which is lacking in others is singing and dancing at the same time. However, they separated some years ago and started producing music individually. Their differences have seemed irresolvable as many efforts have been channelled towards resolving their differences as twins but to no avail. They’re from Umunnachi in Anambra State.
