A 14 year old boy whose name is Joseph Oyika from Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state was kidnapped a Saturday ago in his village, Agbaenyim, Inyimagu, Ikwo local government area. According to his account of the incident, three men waylaid him while going to his grandmother’s house in the same community in the evening of Saturday, 23rd of November, 2024 and forced him into the trunk of their vehicle, showing him a pistol.
He said that in the night of the same Saturday, he was pushed out of the trunk of the car in Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area of Anambra state by the kidnappers. He said that he slept in an open motor mechanic workshop till the morning of Sunday. He confided in this reporter that while in the booth of their vehicle, he was praying, asking God to spare his life from the bloodthirsty kidnappers as he knew that they were going to kill him and harvest his sensitive body parts. At the point of saying this, his heartbeat could be heard panting in reflection of the experience her had in the trunk of the vehicle from Ikwo to Anambra state.
He continued by saying that he approached a food vendor whom he begged for a plate of rice. The vendor graciously granted his request. After eating the food, he started a journey to where he never knew. He trekked for over five hours towards an unknown destination. When he saw a hamlet with many people around, he entered there and fortunately the first woman that received him and listened to his story is from Ezza, Ebonyi state. The community is called Ndiukwuenu, Orumba North LGA of Anambra state. The woman simply identified as mama Abuchi brought the attention of Nwoba Chika living in Awka and from Ikwo. He came around and entertained the story.
The next day that was Monday, Nwoba announced the incident on his Facebook handle. According to him, the boy’s parents reached out to him, saying the exact thing the boy said as his fate. Nwoba drove him to Abakaliki from where he took him to Ikwo local government area headquarters, Onuebonyi Echara. According to Nwoba, he spoke with the chairman of the local government area, Barr Sunday Nwankwo whom he confirmed directed him to go report the child alongside his parents to the DPO of the Ikwo Police Divisional headquarters adjacent to the local government secretariat.
At the police station, the DPO represented by the second in command gave him a statement sheet where he narrated what happened. Subsequently that same Monday, the boy, Joseph Oyika was officially handed to his mother and uncle who represented his late father. kool
