The unthinkable happened yesterday when an eighteen seater bus filled up by passengers from Enugu to Abakaliki the Ebonyi State capital caught fire at the G-hostel section of the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway,

Abakaliki on the night of Thursday, twenty fourth day of October, 2024 and burnt all the passengers in the bus.

It was reported that heavy rainfall was going on when the incident happened and none of the passengers was able to disembark from the now burning bus including the driver. People could be seen in their numbers gathered at the area, discussing in groups, imagining what could lead to such a horrible incident.

As at the time of filing this report, no official information had been made by the Road Safety Corps of the state nor any other government source.

This has thrown residents of Ebonyi state into mourning and questioning the rationale behind the inability of any of the passengers to escape alive. While some blamed it on possible bad condition of the bus, others suggested it could be as a result of overloading, making it impossible for the passengers to disembark before the inferno ate them up.
